Can't believe it

Bad & Good News

Well, the bad news is I have finally succumbed to Covid. I had thought I might just about get away with not getting it, however, given the rates here in the UK and also the fact that my flatmate had it for a week without knowing (negative lateral flow tests, but a positive PCR test due to his work in the NHS), it was perhaps not surprising. I'm in no danger, but I feel absolutely lousy and have a constant hacking cough.

Anyway this morning, I get a call from Warwickshire. It is Gary Cole letting me know they are starting my boat. I was a bit stunned, as the last update from Sue was all doom and gloom. So that was great news. From what I remember, the build takes a month, so all being well, I should have the thing round about mid-May.

Given that, I needed to chase Kingslock for the stern gear they are supplying. Happily I got Steve on the phone first time and he said he had already spoken with Gary and the stuff was being sent over. Even better, the mystery of the propeller sizing is cleared up. Apparently there was an error in a spreadsheet and the correct size IS 13x9, which is what I thought. I'm glad I kept pushing that, otherwise I would have very likely ended up with a propeller with a two small pitch.

I've been sent a photo of the boat being laid down. It's not hugely interesting - it is literally bits of [painfully expensive] steel on the floor - but it is still good to see something is coming along.

Hopefully I will shake off this lurgy soon.
